ROY P. ANDERSON, OWNER
Executive Officer
Roy P. Anderson is co-owner and Executive Officer at Anderson Spector. He shares this title with his friend and partner, David Spector III. Although the co-owners equally share responsibilities in the office, Mr. Anderson's primary focus is on tax services. He also directs all of the compliance services and is primarily responsible for estate and income tax planning, firm management, reviewing tax returns and meeting with clients. Other areas of his expertise are in litigation support, trust, and guardianship services.
Together with his esteemed colleague and good friend, Mr. Spector and Mr. Anderson started Anderson Spector in 1985. However, the friendship between them began right out of college.
Roy P. Anderson attended the University of North Texas and in 1980, like Mr. Spector, earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Accounting. He then moved to San Angelo where he took a job with Armstrong, Backus and Company working in tax preparation and planning. While at Armstrong, Backus and Company he met David Spector III, who had also recently graduated and joined the company. Roy P. Anderson and David Spector III became good friends immediately, musing at all of the things that they had in common. Both had just moved to San Angelo and they even got married within one month of each other!
After living in San Angelo for a couple of years, Mr. Anderson moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for Touche Ross and Company and attended graduate level accounting classes at the University of Oklahoma.
When Mr. Anderson received a call from his good friend asking for his support in starting a new business, he could not refuse. Mr. Anderson asked his father (textbook author and Tax/Accounting Professor at the University of North Texas) and some other professors about starting an accounting practice. They advised the young men to start their business in Denton, Texas.
After 24 years of service in Denton County, Roy P. Anderson works hard to earn your trust every day and provides you with quality work no matter how large or small the task.
Roy P. Anderson received his CPA license in 1985 and is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). Also a KERA Channel 13 Board member, a member of the University of North Texas Accounting Faculty Advisor committee and on the Board of Directors at the Cedar Mills Yacht Club at Lake Texoma. Mr. Anderson is very involved in his community of Denton.
He and his wife, Kathryn, have been married for 28 years. They have two beautiful daughters—Elaine, and Frances.
